Inspiring And Empowering Our Entrepreneurs Of Tomorrow!

The Competition

The Beenleigh Yatala Chamber Of Commerce Rising Entrepreneurs Competition has been designed to inspire and empower the next generation of young entrepreneurs from across Beenleigh and Yatala. With industry mentors, an online community and tips and resources to help students on their business journey, this program has been designed to give these young entrepreneurs the tools and support they need to start and grow their own businesses. 


Entries: Entries for the Rising Entrepreneurs Competition open at the end of Term Two 2019 and close on the 22nd of July 2019. Students are asked to enter the competition in teams of 1-5 students. Schools may enter up to three teams in the competition. 

About The Competition: The competition will be run throughout term Three 2019 with the final submission due on the 14th of September 2019. The competition will be self-paced with online support for students to connect with other participants, as well as industry mentors, as they develop their ideas. The BOP Industries team facilitating the program will also be sharing relevant resources and content as well as give students a timeline to work towards to ensure they have every chance of success.  

What Do We Need To Submit: For the final submission on the 14th of September, we will be hosting a pitch day for all teams as they pitch their ideas to the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber Of Commerce Board. 

The Prize: Winners of the competition will receive a business startup experience over their September school holidays. With membership to the Fishburners Co-Working space in Brisbane and a customised program developed by the BOP Industries team, the winning team will spend their holidays working to bring their business to life in one of Queensland's leading innovation hubs.

Who Is This For: The Rising Entrepreneurs Competition is for entrepreneurial students in Grade 7-12 from the following schools: Beenleigh State High School, Livingstone Christian College, Windaroo Valley State High School, Canterbury College, Rivermount College and Trinity College.

How To Enter: To enter, simply request to join this group. We will ask you a few questions to get your details and then you're in! It's as easy as that.

Competition Timeline

Registrations Open: Registrations for the Rising Entrepreneurs Competition open on the 10th of June 2019. 

Ideation Day: During the school holidays we will be hosting a free ideation day for all competition teams to start developing their ideas in a full day workshop with the BOP Industries team. This will be taking place on the 6th of July 2019 with more information to be made available shortly. 

Competition Commences: The competition will commence as we return for Term Three on the 22nd of July 2019. 

Main Program: Throughout Term Three the competition will be running and participants will be working to build their businesses. Each week will have a different theme and focus for participants to help guide them through their development process as they build their ideas. The BOP Industries team will be sharing relevant resources, videos and articles from industry mentors, handy tools to help students as they work, and will be available to help with any questions participants may have. 

Pitch Day: On the 14th of September we will be hosting a pitch day for all teams to pitch their ideas to the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber Of Commerce board in a Shark Tank style. Each team will be asked to deliver a 3-5 minute pitch of their business as well as a business plan for the judges.

Winners Prize: Over the September holidays the winning team will be invited to join the BOP team at the Fishburners co-working space in Brisbane for their launch program. This program is flexible with the winning team's schedule and can be between one day and five days a week depending on the winning team's availability. 

Chamber Pitch: In October/November the winning team will then be invited to pitch their business to the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber Of Commerce.
